The National Running Show: More Than Just a Running Show
You'd think that after exhibiting at the National Running Show year after year, the nerves would eventually disappear.
They don't.
There's always that familiar mixture of excitement and apprehension in the hours before the doors open. Will the stand be busy? Will people like what we've brought? Will all the preparation have been worthwhile?
And then there's that little voice in the back of my mind, the one that occasionally makes me wonder what a relatively small independent sportswear brand like ABSOLUTE360® is doing exhibiting alongside some of the biggest and most recognisable names in the industry.
I suppose that's impostor syndrome for you.
But then the doors open, the first visitors arrive, and those doubts quickly give way to the familiar buzz of the National Running Show.
A Community Under One Roof
We first exhibited at the National Running Show in 2020, and we've been back every year since.
What was once a major milestone for ABSOLUTE360® has become one of those dates in the calendar we simply couldn't imagine missing.
The show has grown considerably over the years. It's bigger, busier and brings together an extraordinary mix of people, from those taking their first steps into running to experienced marathoners, ultrarunners and everyone in between.
And 2026 was certainly no exception.
In many ways, the National Running Show reflects something we've been seeing across the running world. The rise of running clubs has shown just how much people value the social side of running, whether it's finding motivation, making new friends or simply feeling part of a community.
For one weekend, the show brings that same spirit together under one roof, and we love being part of it.
That enthusiasm was certainly evident at our stand this year. We were incredibly busy, with moments when we barely had time to catch our breath.
It's a wonderful feeling, especially when you've spent weeks preparing and quietly worrying whether anyone will turn up. But it comes with a small frustration.
The very people you've been looking forward to seeing are standing in front of you, and sometimes you simply can't give them as much time as you'd like.

An Annual Reunion
Over the years, we've got to know customers who make a point of visiting us whenever they attend.
There are familiar faces, conversations that pick up where they left off the previous year, and the occasional joke that the National Running Show has become our annual reunion.
There's something rather special about that.
For all the technology that allows us to run an online business, there's still no substitute for meeting someone face to face, sharing a laugh and hearing what they've been up to since we last saw them.
From Customer to Teammate
Sometimes those encounters lead to something you could never have anticipated.
In December 2024, someone placed his first order through our website. At the time, he was simply another customer discovering ABSOLUTE360®.
A few weeks later, at the 2025 National Running Show, we met in person. He stopped by the stand, introduced himself and picked up a few more products.
Then, at this year's show, our paths crossed again.
As we chatted, I mentioned that we were putting together a team of runners for Endure24 Leeds, taking part under the Team ABSOLUTE360® banner.
One thing led to another, and before we knew it, he'd agreed to join us.
Think about that for a moment.
A relationship that began with an online order had developed through two chance encounters at a running exhibition into an invitation to share a running experience together.
There was no grand plan behind it. No marketing strategy. Just people getting to know one another.
And perhaps that's one of the things I love most about the running community. You never quite know where a conversation might lead.
Familiar Faces on Both Sides of the Stand
The sense of community doesn't end with the visitors.
Over the years, we've also built some lovely relationships with other brands and exhibitors. During the show, everyone is understandably focused on their own stands, their customers and the seemingly endless demands of a busy weekend.
But on Saturday evening, when the doors close to the public, things slow down.
The organisers lay on drinks for exhibitors while the awards take place, giving us a chance to catch up, exchange stories and enjoy the company of people we might only see once a year.
Some represent well-established names. Others, like us, are smaller independent businesses trying to carve out their own place in a competitive industry.
For a little while, none of that really matters.
We're simply people who share a connection through running, enjoying a moment together before doing it all again on Sunday.

Why We Keep Coming Back
Of course, the National Running Show is a business event for us. We invest a considerable amount of time, energy and money into being there. We want to sell products, introduce ABSOLUTE360® to new people and make the weekend worthwhile.
I'd be pretending otherwise if I said those things didn't matter.
And yes, there's probably a little fear of missing out, too. After so many years, the thought of not being there feels rather strange.
But when I think about what stays with me after the stands have been dismantled and everything has been packed away, it's rarely a particular sale or how busy we were at a given moment.
It's the people.
The customer who comes back to say how much they've enjoyed using our products. The familiar face who makes a point of finding us. The stranger who stops for a conversation and leaves us with a story. The fellow exhibitors who've become friends along the way.
ABSOLUTE360® is a more established and recognised brand today than it was when we first exhibited in 2020. Yet I still approach every National Running Show with the same excitement, the same nerves and the same desire to make sure people have a positive experience when they meet us.
Perhaps those feelings will never completely disappear.
And perhaps I wouldn't want them to.
Because as much as the National Running Show is about running, for me it has always been about the people who make running such a remarkable community.
